Ocean's Tour

|
What Pi Did:
Pi came into the Ocean’s Tour project months after the initial pre-production was underway, and at a time when the clients, Participant Media (Inconvenient Truth, Darfur Now, Syriana, The Soloist) and DisneyNature, were struggling to find an on campus art stunt/installation that would draw students to the various NGO tables and booths set up on the quads designed to teach students of the dangers of consumer plastic. Pi proposed the creation of giant sea creatures, relevant to the film “Oceans”, that would be made out of plastic bottles found on college campuses, then placed strategically on various quads through out the United States and Hawaii. The idea was to tell the story of the journey of a discarded plastic bottle through a three day performance art installation. The campaign, which toured ten schools from University of Hawaii to NYU, and involved screenings of the film “Oceans” and wildly successful concerts, was covered by national media outlets, from CNN to the Today Show, and was the largest national art activation campaign in the history of Earth Day. But the creative story does not end there; six months later, the sculptures were flown to Brazil to be painted live by pi Residents, Nathan Spoor and URNYC, before an audience of 200,000 plus concert goers at the largest sustainability symposium in the history of Brazil, Sao Paolo’s, Starts With You Festival. The creatures next appearance will be at the Christie's Green Auction to raise funds for the Surf Rider Foundation. Planetillogica offers a broad platform that fosters multi-faceted creative collaborations between our talent and our alliance partners.
