Michelle Berc’s unlimited creative endeavors include art, photography, electronic music, curatorial exhibitions, event production and most recently, the exploration of clothing design. A Chicago native, Michelle grew up in Miami, Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production and minored in Photography at Chapman University in Southern California. The motivation behind much of her creative process stems from her passion for music and DJ culture. Her love for, and now creation of, aural art informs her visual work and visa versa.
In her visual design work on paper, Michelle creates a unique perspective, contrasting the granular structure of pointillism with the complexities of fractal design and tribal folk art. Her pieces are both organic and geometric in nature. The shapes, abstracts and simplistic colors move easily, drawing the eyes in a continual motion around the piece. Although reminiscent of the pop art of the '60's, Berc's pieces contain a fluidity uncommon among the 2-dimensional trend of that era. The depth and motion created in the work captures the eye as well as the mind, adding yet another dimension to a remarkable body of work.
For the past ten years, Michelle Berc's name has been synonymous with her arts organization Create:Fixate. The organization's goal is to assist innovative new and emerging artists and encourage the general public to look upon these exhibits as a fantastic venue to discover new talent. Create:Fixate is considered one of LA’s most respected arts organization supporting emerging artists for the past nine years. As the event producer, Michelle has handled all curatorial aspects of these highly anticipated art events. As a result, she has developed a strong following of art patrons as well as relationships with hundreds of Angeleno, national, and international artists. Beyond the Create:Fixate quarterly events, Michelle has produced art exhibits that have been featured at the Downtown Art Walk, LACMA Art Walk, Venice Art Walk, the Electric Lodge, 18th Street Art Complex, and the Room to Read 10 Year Gala Fundraiser.
As a natural extension of her curatorial work, she is also the creative energy behind Agent 23, her boutique art consulting agency. Throughout the years, she has been sought after by interior designers and realtors looking to add a fresh and stylish aesthetic to the finishing touches of their interiors. Her projects encompass taking raw spaces, commercial or residential and transforming them into a vibrant and festive interactive art experience. Spaces have ranged from 1,000 to 16,000 square feet exhibiting anywhere from 6 to 60 artists. Michelle’s design aesthetic demonstrates her natural and keen understanding of spatial and visual flow.
Michelle’s mission is to connect emerging and mid-career artists and their work with collectors, finding the perfect home for their imagery to be enjoyed for years to come.
