I love to create. Any medium, any outlet, as long as it's flowing. That's why I've taught myself as much as I can in the creative design world.
Learning Photoshop and HTML at the age of 13 helped boost my interest in computer based mediums for creating. I slowly developed my skills by playing around with the two and asking advice when stuck. I was making full websites by 14 years old.
I then dove into the world of 3D design and combined that with my love of video games, the result being a few multiplayer "Counter-Strike" levels. I lost interest after a year, but I know I will go back into 3D design one day.
It was around the age of 15, in highschool, when I decided to really start building up an arsenal of skills. I took a Video Production class at my highschool and was top of the class for all three years I was in it.
Also during highschool, I attended a multimedia course at a local occupational school. There I learned the basics of Graphic Design and Audio Recording Engineering. I was also helping my classmates with their Web Design, Photoshop, and Video Production projects, as I already had experience with them. I recieved a 'Certificate in Multimedia' after graduating the course.
After highschool, I decided to start working, and going to school at the same time. I got a job as the Head of Web & Media at ArWest Communications Corporation in Campbell, CA at the age of 17. I created the website and did their Product Photography and Company Branding.
Brooks College in Sunnyvale was my school of choice because they seemed to have a great Multimedia program there, and they were close to home. At Brooks I learned a lot of new skills. I strengthened my graphic design skills the most there by learning Adobe Indesign, and taking Art History, Art, Typography, and Design Theory classes, among others.
After attending Brooks for about 1 year of the 2 year course, the school announced it's closure right at the end of my schooling there. After this announcement, the quality in education went down dramatically. The teachers stopped caring and lost their will to teach. I even found myself teaching a few of the classes I was in because I knew more than the teacher seemed to care to teach. A few months after the announcement, I finally realized I had been tricked to attending a school that was not worth the high price tag ($20k/year) and dropped out.
Since then, ArWest had let to me go in 2008 due to lack of funding. A month later I found a new job at DrumSkull Drums in Santa Cruz, CA as their Photographer, Web Designer, and I.T. Specialist. I worked there for a year and a half, then left to pursue my dream of not working for anyone but myself!
